File formats and shipping methods

Articles and geological maps are available in hard copy or digital copy (files).

Hard copy

If you order an article from a journal or a book it will be delivered as photocopy in A4 format. If the journal has colour illustrations, these will be reproduced in black-and-white. If the article contains geological maps or tables outside of the text, these must be purchased separately.
If you order a geological map, this one will be delivered as a print on high-definition color plotter of standard weight paper (90g / sq m). Rolled maps are sent in a cardboard tube.

Digital copy (file)

If you order an article from a journal or a book, it will be delivered as a file in PDF format.
The scan of the article is at 200 dpi, in black-and-white. If the article contains geological maps or tables outside of the text, these must be purchased separately. The file is written on not rewritable CD-Rom.
If you order a geological map, this one will be delivered as a file in TIFF format. The map is scanned at a resolution of 400 dpi, color index and saved on not rewritable CD-Rom.

The material can be sent by express courier or downloaded via FTP.

Delivery by express courier

A national Express courier deliver all parcels. Items are sent in envelopes and maps in cardboard tubes.

Downlaodable via FTP

The files are saved on the servers of the Centre of Documentation. The files can be picked up by the user via FTP transfer (File Transfer Protocol).
The user will receive an email containing all the necessary instructions (link to the file, IP address, username and password) to connect to the server and download the file.
If you have a fast internet connection (ADSL, LAN, etc), we recommend this cheaper solution.
